From Lysander - 7/23

7/23- It was so great to be back with everyone today! I took the opportunity to work on my lines over the weekend, and I think many others did too, which made the scenes we worked on today that much better. We’re starting to wrap up blocking on the play, and I can’t wait to see the show in its entirety! Today was a very interesting day (for warm ups at least) because we decided to do warm ups outside today. This taught us how much we actually have to use our diaphragm when we’re onstage, because if we don’t, then we won’t be able to project, and then the audience won’t hear us, which isn’t always clear in the rehearsal space. We stood outside and we did tongue twisters to warm up our face muscles, then we recited some of our lines. It was a good experience and it helped the cast realize how important projecting and using your diaphragm is. After that, we worked on the choreography for the beginning a bit more, and then we blocked one of the last scenes in the play!! We also took a break and did some character interviews in between, and we got to learn about some of the characters pasts, along with their hopes, dreams, and other interesting facts. At the end of the day we got to work on lines with the rest of our castmates, and I got to read aloud some of my scenes with the members of the cast, which I think really helps me memorize my lines, and I’m glad that I got to do that. Today was a great day, and I’m sure tomorrow will be just as great!
