From Lysander - 7/15

7/15- Today was the first day of camp! I got to meet to many new people today and reconnect with some of my old friends. I worked with everyone I possibly could to try and learn more about them, their personality and their acting style to help me and everyone at camp grow and connect with each other. We played improvisation games from Party Quirks to Four Square, and had a bunch of fun getting to know everyone around through a series of other games and icebreakers like All My Friends and Neighbors. We also started to go over the plot of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the characters, their relationships, and how they interact with each other throughout the play. Then we split into groups and did some scene work, one scene was a heated fight between the fairy spouses Titania and Oberon. During this exercise we worked on movement around the stage and interacting with your stage partner, especially since we were all in groups of two. The second scene was the casting of the roles in the play performed at the Duke’s wedding with Bottom, Peter Quince, Flute, and Snug.  Each group had four people for this exercise and we worked on stage movement again (it’s very important) and how to use levels. It was very helpful and I enjoyed it very much. I can’t wait to see what new adventures tomorrow brings.
